East Windsor Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and dependable Transition Program Job Coach with a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to support students participating in school-to-work and community-based transition programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implementation of Special Education IEP goals and services
- Follow the direction of the Special Education Teacher regarding the implementation of accommodations and workplace development
- Execute behavior plans and collect data while maintaining student privacy and dignity in community settings
- Coaching with diminishing supports to increase independence
- Help students in functional lessons including resume writing and interview skills
- Collaborate with community and business partners to best understand job requirements and expectations at work sites
- Maintain required documents and records in accordance with district expectations and confidentiality requirements
- Help students to navigate social communication in all settings, from school to workplace
- Support students with a wide range of disabilities, medical and/ or emotional needs; including but not limited to; medication administration, toileting, incontinent care, feeding, dressing, positioning, and the implementation of medical work orders such as PT, OT, Speech and seizure plans.
- Implementation of behavior plans and de-escalation strategies to maintain behavioral regulation and mitigate the risk of negative verbal/ physical behaviors
- Provide supervision to students while out in the community
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, building administrator, or Director of Special Education
- Transport students using district owned vehicle as requested by the supervising teacher.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must complete district provided PMT training
- Must complete district provided medical delegation and CPR Training
- Must have or obtain, within 60 days of employment, a valid CDL license with a P (passenger) and V (passengers with disabilities) endorsement for driving a district vehicle transporting students to job sites
- Experience safely operating w/c van lifts and using 4 point wheelchair securement devices
Physical Demands:*
- Must possess the ability to stand, sit, and walk unassisted
- Must possess normal visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, and depth perception
- May be required to lift up to 20 pounds
- May be required to assist with positioning of students with limited mobility

Work Environment:
- Often work indoors, moving between classrooms, other school areas and community work sites
- May be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
- Work near others, often within a few feet
- Riding with students in a 10 or 10 plus passenger van
- Work related tasks may be subject to deadlines and time constraints
Work Days:
- 180 school days and 17 extended school year summer days, 2 professional development days prior to the start of the school year
- School days follow the school calendar
